Overview
We have a well established Graduate Program across our business platforms in Australia and New Zealand and are committed to taking on approximately 30 new graduates each year from different streams.
We recruit a number of engineering graduates each year, predominantly in the Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering fields. We also recruit Electrical Engineers to the program. Engineers are typically recruited for a first-rotation role based in their home state if possible, and asked to relocate for subsequent rotations, to gain wider exposure to the engineering field and to different businesses within Orica. Sometimes, great opportunities arise in the business that necessitates relocation for the initial rotation.
We typically recruit a number of chemists, physicists or geophysicists to the Mining Services business, as well as to the OCP and Chemicals R&D teams. You will usually rotate through roles in the business platform in which you start, as these areas usually require technical specialisation that makes cross-business rotation difficult. Cross-business experience is encouraged nevertheless, and many science graduates find that opportunities come after they complete the graduate program. Science roles are typically based in Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle or Brisbane.
