Work/Life Balance

Orica understands that people work more effectively when their life is in balance. We recognise different employees have different needs and we provide a flexible working arrangement where possible.

Health Insurance

Orica has an arrangement with MBF that provides employees with access to private health insurance at attractive rates. Other outstanding options and benefits are provided as part of this package.

Staffpak Insurance

Discounts off standard market rates on house and contents insurance, motor vehicle insurance, and other forms of insurance are available through Middleditch Insurance Brokers and underwritten by CGU Insurance. House consultants and prompt claims services are also available as part of this package.

Employee Assistance Program

This free and confidential service is available to assist employees and their immediate families with any hardship or concerns that they may require assistance with. EAP is a counselling service for people facing normal, everyday problems. Some of the common services that EAP services include: marital/relationship, family, stress, grief, trauma, alcohol or drugs, gambling, financial and legal problems.

Training and Development

Orica understands and supports that training and development of its employees is an ongoing process. We invest in our people with programs such as specialist training and leadership development programs, with initiatives where employees are encouraged to pursue entrepreneurial and innovative business ideas.

Orica Dulux Staff Card

This scheme provides employees with the opportunity to purchase an expansive range of Orica Consumer Products (OCP) paint materials at discounted rates through the network of company-owned Dulux Trade Centres, including Dulux premium and trade lines, Berger premium and trade line, Walpumur, Acratex Texture Coatings, Dulux protective coatings and Orica Woodcare brands.

Novated Leases

A novated finance lease is a budgeted, fully-maintained lease where the monthly rental is charged to your pre-tax package. Discounts are available for Orica employees on novated leases from Ford and Toyota.

Mobile Phone Plan

Orica has access to competitive rates for mobile phone owners. Orica employees are able to sign on to the Orica plan via the company intranet.

Superannuation

Superannuation is provided to Orica employees according to statutory guidelines. Home country superannuation benefits are continued while an employee is on an overseas secondment. Arrangements are handled by the Company on behalf of the employee. These benefits are governed by current Orica policies and procedures and are subject to change at any given time.

General Employee Exempt Share Plan (GEESP)

From time-to-time, at the discretion of the Share Plan Committee, all permanent full-time and part-time employees (except executives and international assignees) regardless of length of service will be eligible to participate in GEESP offer for the purchase of Orica shares to a maximum value of $1,000 (with the actual number of shares being dependent upon market value at the time of purchase).

Repayment of the value is made by pre-tax payroll deduction over a 12-month period. Full details of the rules and conditions are published at the time the offer is made.

Paid Family Leave / Flexible Working Arrangements

Up to 6 weeks’ paid maternity leave is available to Australian employees where the employee has been employed on a permanent full or part time basis with 12 months or  more continuous service. Once their application for leave has been approved, the six weeks paid leave will form part of the 52-week total entitlement. Paid leave will be based on the employee's current salary effective from the first day of the leave period. Employees working part-time will be paid the six weeks at their part-time rate.

After 12 months continuous service a period of up to 3 days paid paternity leave will be available to employees at the time of confinement of their partner in order to assist her and to care for the family. In addition, the taking of annual leave, where available, is encouraged at the authorisation of the Manager.

Unpaid Leave

Employees may be granted unpaid leave of up to 20 working days (pro-rata for part-time employees) per calendar year, if this can be accommodated by the business. In all cases arrangements must be confirmed in writing with the employee with a copy placed in the employee's Personal File.

Ford Partner Recognition Program (Australian Employees Only)

Australian Orica employees are entitled to special discounts on Ford vehicles through the Ford Partner Recognition Program.
You and your spouse/partner can save up to $6,000 (depending on the model) off the recommended price of a new Ford.

Orica is committed to improving life in the communities in which we live and work. We are proud to offer employees the opportunity to participate in Orica’s “Dare to Share” Program.

Dare to Share allows you to donate to a selection of charities directly from your pre-tax pay. In support of all employees who choose to make a contribution to the community, Orica iscommitted to match all contributions.

In order to maximize the impact of our collective efforts, 12 community organisations have been selected based on feedback received from an employee survey. You may elect to contribute to some or all of these organizations via the Dare to Share Program.
