Global Graduate Program Training & Development

 Graduate Workshop Events

Orica graduates come together each year for our Graduate Program Development Workshops.  As well as being introduced to Orica and the program, it’s here that you’ll learn self-development techniques, interaction and career-planning skills.  Each year of the program has a focus;

Year 1 - Understanding yourself and the business

Year 2 - Maximising personal effectiveness

Year 3 - Discovering the leader within

Orica senior leaders attend the workshops and evening dinners, so you’ll have a great chance to network, ask questions and learn from our leadership team. Importantly, the workshops are an opportunity to buuild a strong network with your graduate peers whom often become your Orica friendship network for many years to come.

Buddies

When you start, you’ll be assigned a ‘buddy’ from the second-year graduate group, who will help you settle in, point you in the right direction, and answer any ‘silly’ or sensible questions you have. Your buddy will be an invaluable source of inside information while you get started. Then, in your second year, you’ll become a buddy to the next intake of graduates – a great way to develop your leadership skills.

Mentors

In the third year of the graduate program, you’ll have the chance to be mentored by someone from amongst our most senior business and technical leaders. Your mentor will be selected from outside your direct reporting line to give you the freedom to open up on all issues. Their role is to guide your career decision-making and help you negotiate through the internal intricacies of an organisation of Orica's size and complexity. Our mentors are carefully selected on the basis of their strong cross-business and technical experience.

Rotations

Orica's global graduate program is a three year rotational proram.  Each graduate experiences three different job roles in different locations and typically across at least two of our business platforms, making our program one that produces a pipeline of well rounded future leaders.

Global rotations - Rotations outside of the home region are available in the third year of the graduate program for those showing high potential.  Global rotations aim to develop a global mindset, equipping you for a global career at Orica.

Relocation expenses- Relocations are paid for by Orica for any graduate relocating for or within the graduate program.
